Ephesians 5:18-19 says; "Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts."(NLT)

In the bible verse above, Apostle Paul contrasts being filled with the Spirit with being drunk with wine. Somebody who is drunk with wine or alcohol is controlled by alcohol, but somebody who is "filled with the Spirit" is controlled by the Spirit, who helps us live holy lives.

You received the Holy Spirit when you gave your life to Christ Jesus, therefore you need to continually fellowship with the Holy Spirit in your heart, ask for the leading of the Holy Spirit, to help you do the things God wants you to do. You cannot please God by self-effort, it is only through the power of the Holy Spirit.

You will live a victorious life in Christ Jesus when you allow the Holy Spirit take control of every area of your life. He is our teacher, our helper, our comforter.

Dear Father, I thank you for giving me your Holy Spirit. I pray that your Holy Spirit will guide me into the riches of your glory in Christ Jesus! Amen!
