Proverbs 28:27 says; “Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to poverty will be cursed.”(NLT)
God has created both the poor and the rich and expects us to live in love by sharing with one another. Doing good was something always spoken of in the early Church. Believers were encouraged to practice and to do good.
Giving to the poor was not an option in the New Testament but rather one of the chief ways Jesus Christ emphasized dealing with money. Also the Apostles followed this pattern and emphasized this as one of the traditions and tenets of the Church.
Bible says in 1 John 3:17-18; "If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."(NIV)
Dear Father, I thank you for your provisions. I pray to have the ability to help the poor. I reject every spirit of stinginess and selfishness in the mighty name of Jesus! Amen!
