Isaiah 43:18-19 says; “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."(NLT)
In the scripture above, The Lord is saying that you should forget the former things, former relationships, former troubles, former disappointments, former failures and set your mind on His promises so that the former things will not repeat itself.
When you keep on thinking on former mistakes, failures, disappointments, they seem to be attracted to you again and you see your life repeating the same pattern or going in circles.
Dwelling on the past can be energy sapping, when you think about your failures or disappointments, you feel so weak to do a lot, this weakness also affect your prayer life and your walk with God. More also, it can make you lose opportunities that are before you, because you can barely see it as long as the past is taking the space in your mind.
To make the long story short, the longer you dwell on your past, the greater it's power to harm you. It is natural that negative thoughts will come to your mind but replace them with positive thoughts and you will find peace in your heart.
Philippians 4:8 says; "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."(KJV)
Dear Father, I thank you for everything i have gone through. I refuse to dwell on my past mistakes, I declare that God has done a new thing and I receive it in Jesus mighty name! Amen!
