Romans 5:8 says; "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Another word for demonstration is proof, God proves his own love for us. It is not enough to tell someone, "I love you" and nothing to show for it. Love is action, it has a proof. That is why the bible encourages us to share with those who are in need as a proof of our love to them.
Some people are in a relationship or friendship, but there is nothing to show/prove that love is existing therein. For example, a friend would not visit you when you are sick, for no good reason. He/She will not give you when you are in need, he/she will not encourage you when you are down, but will still say, "I love you". Those kind of people are only good in speaking love, which is vanity. They don't show/practice love. They are manipulators.
Again, saying I love God without a proof of obedience is not love because God himself showed us an example by giving us Jesus, according to above scripture. He expects us to show him love in return through our sacrifice of obedience.
Today make a conscious effort to love with proof, don't speak love, which only leads to vanity. Show love, practice love and God's glory will shine down on you.
2 Corinthians 8:24 says; "Therefore show these men the proof of your love and the reason for our pride in you, so that the churches can see it."
Dear Father, thank you for loving me. I pray that you give me a heart to love with proof and also bring those who love with proof along my way in Jesus name! Amen!
