Galatians 4:22-23; "The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife. The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfillment of his promise."
Studying the above scripture, these two women serve as an illustration of God’s two covenants. The first woman, Hagar, represents the old covenant, where people received the law that enslaved them. But the other woman, Sarah, represents the new covenant, She is the free woman.
God gave the promises to Abraham and his seed or child. And notice that the Scripture doesn’t say “to his seeds or children as if it meant many descendants. Rather, it says “to his seed or child” and that, of course, means Christ.
God does not give us the Holy Spirit and work miracles amongst us because we obey the law, It is through our faith that we obtain them, as the bible say; "without faith, it is impossible to please God." In the same way, “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.
Therefore, the real children of Abraham, then, are those who put their faith in God and not those who try to please God through their human effort. Those who have faith like Abraham becomes Abraham's spiritual Children, heirs to the promise and joint heirs with Christ. Praise God!
Dear Father, I thank you for your word. I am an heir to God's promises, a joint heir with Christ. I am growing in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus. I will inherit all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places through my faith in Christ Jesus! Amen!
