QUESTION: HOW CAN PERFECT LOVE CAST OUT FEAR?
STUDY REFERENCE: 1 John 4:18, John 3:16, Romans 5:2-5, 1 John 4:7-8.
The scripture says in 2 Timothy 1:7; "For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity but of power, love, and self-discipline." Another version says, "a sound mind". Fear is not of God, the devil uses fear as a tool to distract us from believing and receiving God's promises. Fear has robbed many of us off our blessings but now some of us know better.
1 John 4:18 says; "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." We must have a deep knowledge of God's love to drive out fear from our lives. When you have a deep knowledge of God's love and his promises, you will be assured that victory is yours always. Just like Apostle Paul's prayer to the Ephesians in Ephesians 3:18-19; "And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
From the above scripture, we understand that the knowledge and experience of God's love will make us complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. The knowledge and experience of God's love are so vital in our walk with God.
So, wherever you feel God does not care about your situation or fear of the unknown sets in, remember Romans 5:8-10; "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
So you see, if when we were sinners God cared about us to send his beloved son to die on our behalf, how much more now that we have been saved, will he not deliver us from all our weaknesses and troubles?
God is on our side, for He has said in Hebrews 13:5b; "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee". It doesn't matter if you are in lack, in sickness, in trouble, in persecution or in danger! No more fear! No more panic! You are a success! You have victory in Christ Jesus! In all these things, you are more than conquerors! Hallelujah!
