TOPIC: THE MIND
QUESTION: IS THE HUMAN MIND A BATTLEFIELD? WHAT SHOULD WE DO TO WIN?
STUDY REFERENCE: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Romans 12:2, Philippians 4:6-8.
Bible says in 2 corinthians 10:3-5; "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."
Studying the scripture above, we realize that there are imaginations and thoughts that need to be dealt with in our minds. Every action starts with a thought, without you thinking about something, it's impossible for you to do such. Bible said in the book of proverb 23:7a; "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he."
Therefore, the mind has to be taken seriously to build a good and healthy life. It's a fact that, what the brain is to the nervous system, the mind is to the soul and what the nervous system is to the body, the soul is to the spirit. Therefore our mind is responsible for the outcome of our lives since the spiritual controls the physical.
There are thoughts called "strongholds", these thoughts fight against the things of God in our mind through unbelief. These strongholds develop with time when we give our mind to things that are against or contrary to the word of God. The devil will only succeed in winning you over if your mind is captured in rebellious thoughts.
The only way we can win in this battle that goes on in our minds is to focus on positives things based on God's word. God said to Joshua in Joshua 1:8; "Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do."(NLT)
God knew that if Joshua meditates on His word at all times, the word will take root in him and he will live according to the word. This means; if we constantly meditate on the word of God, the word will take root in us to guide us, to rebuke us, and to encourage us in all our ways, then we will prosper in all we set our hearts to do.
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8. (KJV)
